Airport in Bulgaria's Plovdiv Modernized for BGN 40 M

About BGN 40 M will be invested in the modernization of the airport in Bulgaria's second largest city of Plodviv.
The news was announced Monday by the Bulgarian Transport Minister Petar Mutafchiev after a meeting of the governing board of the state owned airport company.
The Plovdiv Airport, which serves as an alternative to the Airport in Sofia, will also be equipped with a blind landing system.
Modernization package includes the construction of a new terminal at the Plovdiv Airport, which will cost about BGN 38 M. Of there BGN 18 M will be provided by Alpha Finance Holding, which owns 58,08% of the airport, and the rest will come from the state budget.
According to Mutafchiev, the project must be completed before the end of the term of the present government, i.e. by the summer of 2009. After that the Plovidv Airport will be awarded a higher class.
