Bulgaria Government to Send Pensioners on Vacation

Bulgaria's Socialist-led government is to pay the vacations of 3000 to 5000 pensioners with money from the budget surplus, PM Sergey Stanishev announced Tuesday.
The retirees are to go on holiday to the seaside or the mountains of Bulgaria in the period September - November, Social Minister Emilia Maslarova said and added that the pensioners' organisations and the ministry are to decide who will benefit from the free holidays.
Rightist opposition parties declared the move of the cabinet aims to lure electorate before the next parliamentary elections in 2009.
